War Master-Chapel Of The Apocalypse-Review

War Master is a Houston, Texas, the United States Of America-based Death Metal band formed in 2009.

With Bolt Thrower for influence and a tagline which reads “Sever the head that does not bang. Only death is real”, I can’t but be amused with this distortion of “Bang the head that does not bang” and mixing with the Mayhem attributed quote “Only Death Is Real” a favourite among Black Metal music lovers.

War Master recently released their three-song Demo titled “Chapel Of The Apocalypse” on The Torture Garden Picture Company.

Extremity is what seemed on the horizon for me and War Master didn’t disappoint me with their music the cover art of a haggard yet pissed off looking hooded man with a candle and with skullheads in the background, it would have been apt for the word “Hellbent”.

Painting a musical apocalypse cometh is what these guys are adept at, the grindcore and thrash influences are quite evident in the vocal delivery style and the way the riffs are played. The drummer is worthy of a mention, he adds that aura of somberness usually associated with all things grim. If you have listened to early Slayer albums you’d noticed the buzzing/screeching, that’s all here and when you’ve that coupled with superfast drumming the results are bound to be great.

My pick from this Demo “[Intro] Awake in Darkness/Warplague”. If Apocalypse needs a Pandemonic Incantation then War Master’s “Chapel Of The Apocalypse” can be considered.

Current Line-Up

Daniel Shaw – Vocals

Neal Dossey – Guitar

Ben Gott – Guitar

Tom Roberts – Bass

Stephen Bower – Drums

South Kitsap Infidels-Demo-Review

South Kitsap Infidels, when I first heard the name, I found it quite funny because then I didn’t know what Kitsap meant, I dissected the word thinking it was an amalgam of “Kit” and “Sap” and then sounded hilarious to me.

Adding to this fun was the name of a former colleague coming to my mind “Kit Technik”, when I first heard his name; I thought it was some technology/technique, until I asked somebody what it was.

Like the case with my former colleague’s name when I contacted one of the guys at South Kitsap Infidels, he told me that since they lived in South of Kitsap that’s why the name.

South Kitsap Infidels is a Thrash Metal/Grunge loving band and like to call their music as “Thrunge Metal”. Based in Port Orchard, Washington, the United States Of America, South Kitsap Infidels is four-member band; South Kitsap Infidels was formed in 2006.

South Kitsap Infidels have released their five-song Demo album and I’m glad to have a copy of it. It’s from the clichéd “underground” that Metal Music has seen some of its most innovative and beautiful music and South Kitsap Infidels are one of them.

Their music has a high-octane and vibrant energy to it and it feels great when it has a cool swagger to it. Heavily influenced by Thrash Metal bands like Metallica [their greatest influence], Pantera, Seattle grunge bands like SoundGarden, Mother Love Bone, their music is a welcome respite and a pleasure to listen to compared to the “front line assembly type drone-ish albums that currently float in the scene”.

Despite their Metallica influence, they way they play the music is very much similar to the likes of Slayer and Judas Priest, neither ultra-fast or medium but a balanced style of playing with a “grumpy” vocals like a hybrid Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain and SoundGarden/Audioslave former vocalist Chris Cornell.

Right from the first track “Death Of The Dyeing” to the last untitled song on the album, each song is great in the way it is played, the momentum is maintained and the way the musicians work together like a cohesive musical unit. Pissed off is an understatement, it’s like a volcano that has acquired a whip and is now out to whoop the hell out of everyone.

Released by the Olalla, Washington, the United States Of America based Swamp Gas Records, South Kitsap Infidels demo album is total value for money and you won’t feel bored for even a moment while you spin their disc. Click here to order a copy of their demo.

Dark Crucifix-Chapters Of Damnation-Review

Dark Crucifix is a Black Metal band from the southern Indian state of Kerala. Consisting of Samir on Vocals, Bass and Guitars and Jayesh on Drums, Dark Crucifix came out with their first and last album in a Demo format titled “Chapters Of Damnation” way back in 2000.

“Chapters Of Damnation” was self-produced by Dark Crucifix and consists of three songs which are more like Blackened Thrash Metal instead of Black Metal. The vocals are a blend of Thrash Metal screams and Death Metal growls instead of the high-pitched and eardrum shattering shrieks that Black Metal music lovers are accustomed to.

Despite all the three songs being of less than a minute’s duration, I didn’t get much of an opportunity to experience the music of Dark Crucifix but I must say all the three songs were enjoyable, never a dull moment.

Dark Crucifix’s music is like that meteor in that sky which catches your eye for a split second and voila, it’s gone. I think Haley’s Comet is a more apt word for Dark Crucifix’s music, short yet beautiful.

Not much is known now about Dark Crucifix, though it is presumed that the band’s inactive. Jayesh is now part of a Black Metal band called Arcane Ritual based in India.

Chapter Of Damnation – Song Listing

1. The Long Awaited Disaster

2. In the Dreams of Dead

3. When Darkness Descends

Current Line-Up

Samir – Vocals, Bass and Guitars

Jayesh – Drums

Infinite Hate Project-EP-Review

Infinite Hate Project is a Brutal Death Metal project of Sahil Makhija aka The Demonstealer of Demonic Resurrection, Reptilian Death, Workshop, Ramshackle and The Demonstealer.

Infinite Hate Project the name sounds pretty cool and idealistic and so is their music, ultra-fast guitar playing which resemble machine gun fire and drumming which would make proponents of the term “Relentless Beating”, now oh-so-fashionable in the metal community ardent Infinite Hate Project fans.

Coming to the lyrical themes, as is evident from the name, it’s all and all Hatred, the kind of which you see espoused by rabble rousers, demagogues, fundamentalists and extremists, but I’m not saying that Infinite Hate Project’s music is like that.

Being a solo music project Sahil Makhija aka The Demonstealer has done the vokils [read: vocals] and played all the instruments here right from the guitar to employing the services of a programmed drum machine. The programmed drum machine sometimes takes away the pleasure of listening to the music which sometimes sounds like a chainsaw buzz in the middle but doesn’t totally destroy the listening experience.

Consisting of two songs “Blast Of Hatred” and “Fuck The Sena Master”, Infinite Hate Project’s songs were featured as “bonus tracks” in the four-way Death Metal split album titled “Defaced & Split” released in 2006 by Sahil Makhija aka The Demonstealer founded & owned Demonstealer Records. The four bands that were featured on this four-way Death Metal split album were Exhumation [India], Narsil [India], and Warface [the U.S.A.] and Sahil Makhija aka The Demonstealer’s yet another solo Death Metal project Reptilian Death.

It seems that Infinite Hate Project was solely created for the purpose of the four-way Death Metal split album titled “Defaced & Split”. The Right Hand Path will be at the forefront when it comes to more Brutal Death Metal music from Infinite Hate Project.

Song Listing

1. Blast Of Hatred

2. Fuck The Sena Master

Slayer & Megadeth On A Carnage

Thrash Metal Icons Slayer and Megadeth will join forces to co-headline “American Carnage,” kicking off on January 18 in Seattle, WA for a 26-date trek across North America that will include the six Canadian dates postponed earlier this month.

“American Carnage” is the first time that Slayer and Megadeth will have toured the U.S. together since 1991′s epic “Clash of the Titans” tour. To celebrate that and in recognition of the tough economic times that many of their fans are having, Megadeth and Slayer have decided to roll back the price of a chunk of tickets at every U.S. show to the “1991 price” of $10.00. These specially-priced tickets will be limited and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Megadeth has also teamed with iloveallaccess.com to provide an Ultimate Fan Package including premium seats, meet and greets, pre-show parties and more.

In addition, Testament – who was also on the “Clash of the Titans” bill, will be Special Guests on the entire tour, marking the first time that all three bands have shared a stage together in more than 18 years, and making this a “must see” metal event.

Both Megadeth and Slayer will hit the road supporting new albums: Megadeth’s 2009 album, ENDGAME, while Slayer’s World Painted Blood, the band’s 10th studio venture, hit stores November 3. Testament’s The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition, will be released on February 23, 2010, with special unreleased bonus tracks.

Legendary thrash metal titans Testament, Lead singer Chuck Billy says, “Uniting these bands is the heavy metal event of generations. We are so proud to be a part of it.” Slayer and Megadeth are also re-scheduling the east coast leg of the “Canadian Carnage” tour, postponed from this fall.
