As 2010 neared its end, Canadian Death/Black Metal band Weapon came out with their second full-length album “From The Devil’s Tomb” released on Monday, November 1, 2010 by Agonia Records in Europe and The Ajna Offensive in North America.
“From The Devil’s Tomb” came 17 months after Weapon’s first full-length album “Drakonian Paradigm” which was released by The Ajna Offensive on Wednesday, June 24, 2009.
“From The Devil’s Tomb” is a pleasure to listen to for two reasons, first its esoteric lyrical themes mainly derived from the Left Hand Path ideology that the members of Weapon subscribe to. The second reason is the way the music has been conceptualized and composed. Right from the ferocious title song “From The Devil’s Tomb” to “Furor Divinus” to the captivating instrumental song “Left Hand Path Yoga” to the lyrics of songs like “Trishul”, “Vested In Surplice, And Violet Stole” and “Towards The Uncreated”, Weapon display a maturity, that’s often found lacking in today’s Metal bands most of them happen to be ideological nomads and musical geniuses and vice versa.
But, rarely do you come across bands like Weapon who maintain a fine balance between their ideology and their music and are geniuses at their style of music. The only other band especially in the “Hindu Metal/Vedic Metal” genre that comes to my mind is Singapore’s Rudra.
Vetis Monarch, the frontman of Weapon had the below-mentioned to say about Weapon and its members in an Exclusive Interview to The Right Hand Path
“Members’ pseudonyms must reflect the ideology of the band. Weapon is Satanic through and through; every member’s name has something to do with the Left Hand Path.”
Digipack CD/Double LP released in Europe by Agonia Records. Regular CD/Double LP released by The Ajna Offensive in North America.
