Deafheaven – Libertine Dissolves [Review]

A 2 song EP consisting of the title song “Libertine Dissolves” and “Daedalus”, the EP is brutal from the start with typical death metal riffs, drumming and the trademark cookie monster growls. Nowhere in the EP did I feel disinterested in the music even for a second, because it’s a pleasure to listen.

This is an EP worth listening and recommended for metal fans across the genre.

Elvish Mirage – Reflections In Flickering Hope [Review]

Elvish Mirage is an Indian Progressive Metal band.

“Reflections In Flickering Hope” is a 2 song EP from Elvish Mirage. The first song “A Lullaby For The Soul” is a slow, soft song accompanied by the occasional growls with almost machine like music. The next, the second and the final song “Tears Of Solitude” is a heavy song with superb drumming and guitar work with death metal cookie monster growls, which progresses fast in the middle to raise the tempo but is enjoyable.

A good effort is visible along with dedication to their music from Elvish Mirage in this 2 song EP of theirs. Nice and worth a listen.

Annihilator – Annihilator [Review]

Annihilator is a Canadian Metal band formed in 1984. Annihilator is now based in Ottawa/Ontario/Vancouver. Annihilator’s early genre of Metal was Technical Speed Metal/Thrash Metal but later they changed their genre of Metal to Groove Metal.

“Annihilator” is a great album with a fantastic combination of vocals and music. The band members complement each other with regards to the music and the balance.

Highly recommended for both first time listeners and Annihilator fans alike.

Spear Of Longinus – …….and the Swastikalotus [Review]

Spear of Longinus is an Australian Black Metal/Thrash Metal band formed in 1993 from Brisbane in Queensland whose lyrical themes are based on National Socialism, religion, philosophy and hatred.

The phrase “Spear of Longinus” is in reference to the spear that pierced Jesus Christ’s side as he was on the cross. It is told that who possesses the spear is granted immortality.

“…….and the   Swastikalotus” was  released in 2007 as a full-length album. Consisting of 11 songs, “…….and the Swastikalotus” is a fabulous album with each song a gem in itself. Right from the opening track “New Dawn” to the third song “Nuclear Vision” to the fourth song “Vishnu On The Way Home” to the fifth song “YHWH Penis Abominator”, it’s a musical pleasure served by Spear of Longinus.

Other tracks that are worth mentioning here are “The Lay Of Spartazen”, “Rebel Revolt – Monument” and “The Guilded Culprit”. This is a must buy album and I would say mandatory listening for every Black Metal/Thrash Metal fan.
