Ebola – Hell’s Death Metal [Review]

Ebola is a Death Metal band from Poland. Hell’s Death Metal by Ebola opens with a killer intro called “Death Approaching”. I’m a kind of fan of this concept of having an instrumental intro in the beginning and the end of the album. It gives an impression of structure or for that matter vision of hierarchy that the musicians have in their mind. Enough of hierarchy and instrumentals.

The album artwork shows a pile of corpses and two masked man standing with a corpse in their hands. In the background are stakes where corpses lie pierced, surprisingly the album artwork doesn’t have the name “Hell’s Death Metal” written on it.

I remember when I first saw Ebola’s Hell’s Death Metal on a Metal music download blog; I knew that I’d to download this album, with a name as cool as Hell’s Death Metal I couldn’t afford to miss it.

Focusing on the music the second song “Necrolegion” is cool; it has killer drums and guitar riffs which are perfect for a pandemonic invocation. What surprises me about Ebola is they have clean vocals unlike the gargled vocals of a normal Death Metal band accompanied by the screams and grunts. This kind of Death Metal is a refreshing and welcome change for me. Necrolegion is a headbanger’s delight.

Next up is “Beasts Of Damnation” which too carries on the killer drums and guitar riffs and the clean vocals which look as if they are lunging out to get you by the neck and make you listen. The fourth song is “Tyranny Of The Unlords” which has a great opening and then the Poles go on to serve their standard Death Metal fare with the growls and the awesome drumming.

Ebola do a great job at playing Death Metal at the remaining 8 songs on the album.

My picks from Hell’s Death Metal are “Death Approaching”, “Necrolegion”, “Beasts Of Damnation”, “Tyranny Of The Unlords”, “Cult Of Death”, “Hell’s Death Metal”, “Rip The Flesh”, “Against Decalogue” and “Panzer Death Machine” and the mechanical and ultra cool “…”.
